They're great for boating, hard hat liner, and as a welding cap.

I've been using these Stubbies for well over 10 years under my cycling helmet and I've purchased additional ones periodically over the years. I recently purchased three new ones (I still have my original Stubbies) and the latest ones just don't fit as well as the older ones: the bowl of the Stubby has gotten deeper (to the point that you can cover the tops of your ears) with the excess material bunching up behind your ears and the sweat band is not sewed in evenly so that it is always wrinkled. I was basically unaware that I was wearing my previous Stubbies, which is not the case with the new ones. Still basically a good product but not what it once was.
